Eric Hutchins Biography

Eric Hutchins performs on Classical, Steel-string, and Electric Guitars, Mandolin, various Keyboards, Trumpets, Recorders, MIDI Wind Controller, and Cornetto.

His interest in the creative use of music technology has led to acclaimed performances as a soloist, backed by eclectic studio wizardry, and with various ensembles.

His compositions, embracing many musical styles and colors, always sing from the heart.

"In building a piece, a foremost concern of mine is to stay true to the original impulse of the creation, so that it becomes a clear statement, not without contrast, but with musical materials serving to expand and intensify the feeling of the original moment."

Eric earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1984, and a Master of Music degree in Composition and Technology in 1997. He teaches music in the Missoula, Montana Public Schools.

Eric writes and performs for several ensembles, and his original music for films and videos has appeared in award-winning productions throughout the region.
